Top of Horsetail Fall

This is where Horsetail Falls pours over the east side of El Capitan, Yosemite. I got this shot in 1995? while on a photo assignment shooting climber on El Capitan. View is looking east down Yosemite Valley with Half Dome covered in clouds, center.

50 deer and the Tuolumne River, Yosemite 6/11/08

I went out to the west end of Tuolumne Meadows the other evening and there were 50 deer, they were every where. This starts out with some of the herd feeding and playing in the meadow. Then I follow the Tuolumne River downstream towards Glen Aulin next to some cascades heavy with snow melt run off.

The Mighty Merced River Spring Run Off. This is by Arch Rock and shows the Merced River BIG water from the snow melt. It has gotten really big with the hot temperatures and will not last long due to lack of snow in Yosemite's High Country. Taken 5/17/08

Yosemite's famous Jeffrey Pine on Sentinel Dome

Yosemite's famous Jeffrey Pine on Sentinel Dome, whose poetic beauty and unique, wind-swept formation made it one of the most photographed trees in the park. The gnarled tree, photographed by Carleton Watkins in 1867 and later made famous by Ansel Adams, had stood dead since a severe drought in 1977. It finally fell sometime between Aug. 9 and 11.

The falls are not getting the very last red sun set light although with all the water and wind spray it is quite a sight to see.
